All of our students begin their day at 8:00am. Because we are rooted in Catholic education traditions, each class starts every day with prayer so that all of our students grow in their relationship with God, themselves and others.
As you enter Kindergarten, you’ll see students already learning responsibility with their weekly classroom job chart which not only teaches them to be responsible for themselves, but also to be responsible for the environment around them. First Grade is a wonderful time for parents to bond with their students as they volunteer for centers, giving each child more attention as they learn new concepts in reading. Later, you might find our second graders preparing for their First Communion or a group of third graders practicing their times tables as they create their own math flashcards. Fourth Grade students dive deep into California history as they learn all about the missions and the Gold Rush. Head over to the fifth grade, and you’ll see kids gathered around tables working together on a hands-on science project involving the digestive system.
Sixth Grade is our first year of middle school and our students become better independent learners as they take on more difficult math courses and become better citizens as they give more of their time to community service projects. Seventh Grade finds new ways to explore the classics as they learn all about the Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilizations. You’ll meet the leaders of the school in Eighth Grade as these hardworking students continue their studies and prepare for high school while leading their faith families and Student Council.
Throughout the day, students get ample time to move their bodies in P.E. and recess, as well as explore their creative sides with weekly art and music classes. Our students also take weekly Spanish and Technology classes which help prepare them for our global world. All students are challenged daily to enrich their critical thinking skills and every grade is preparing for the future with various STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) initiatives.
We embrace the ideals of a caring learning community, encouraging our students in developing healthy positive attitudes toward themselves, other people, and the world around us! Confidence, respect, cooperation, compassion and leadership are just a few of the attitudes of the Saint Isabella School student.
